I recently won a competition for designing the logo for Textpattern Resources! I was gobsmacked! It’s the first competition I have ever won so it was very unexpected! I liked art at school but failed my art exams so it is nice to discover that I am not as bad as I thought! Computer technology did not exist when I went to school. So I am very grateful for it because without it I could not have produced the logo. Here is how I did it:

My logo was just an idea in my head. I thought 'Textpattern' ... 'Resources' ... 'out of the ground' ... 'mining' ... 'mineshaft' ... 'maybe' ... 'digging' ... 'spade' ... 'somebody digging so there's some action'. And that's when the technology came in because I really cannot draw to save my life! I tried to draw a spade coming out of the ground throwing some dirt but I could not even do that. I had to take a photo of myself holding a spade and then trace round the edges and mess about in Paint Shop Pro to make even this simple picture!

Looking at it next day, I saw connotations of 'digging your own grave' so I took another photo of myself. Yes folks, the winning logo was not a drawing but a photo of me messed about with in Paint Shop Pro! And no, I will not send you the original!

Of course, I am now open for work designing your logo for you! Let me know your site, I will wait for a passing brainwave (may take some time but then two or three usually come at once:) and we will take it from there :-)
