Snow At Last!
other : mid
OK, OK, we can’t all be poets!
Gentle soft
From aloft
Snow falls down
To the ground
Hearts fill up
Lots of joy
Every girl
Every boy
Open hands
Catch a flake
Will it melt?
Will it take?
Minutes later
Snow has gone!
Did not last
Very long
Nothing left!
Disappeared!
Is that it
For this year?
Minutes later
Snow comes back!
Sticking fast
To my mack!
Looking up
Pelting me
On my specs
Cannot see!
Flurry round
Hurry down
Quick and thick
Starts to stick
On the wall
Make a ball
Pack it hard
Hear it scrunch
But too late
Off my guard
Thwack and crunch
That's my mate
Hits me hard!
Snowballs whizz
Cannot hide
From the front
From the side
Down his neck
Splat and slide
Cold and wet
Satisfied!
Snow has stopped
Once again
I look up
And just then
Hailstones bounce
Rattle and roll
Sting and swirl
As they fall
What a day!
First this winter
That there's been a hint o't
Icy stuff
That I love
Floating down
From above
It's quiet now
Footsteps hushed
Carpet white
Slows the rushed
Very soon
'Twill be dusk
Birds will sing their happy songs and this may be the only hour this year that people will have a chance to enjoy the snow here in Preston, Lancashire. Will they enjoy the precious moments or will they curse the road conditions for the inevitable traffic jams? Unfortunately I think it will mostly be the latter because although those jams are causing the melting icecaps, people don't seem to care and still insist on joining them every day. Why should the Snow God send us snow if we can't stop and appreciate it when we get it?
